Play against the slowing of motion itself to sculpt the ultimate masterpiece.
ZeroK Sculptor is a First-Person Race Against the Clock Sci-Fi game, developed in Unity, for the Grapefruit Game Jam. The theme of the Jam was “Absolute Zero”. We decided to take the absolute zero literally – absolute zero, or 0 kelvin, is the lowest possible temperature, at which all motion stops.
In ZeroK Sculptor, the player has the role of an artist, looking to craft their magnum opus – a grapefruit sculpture out of a substance that is only stable at near-absolute zero temperatures. The objective of the game is to finish carving the structure, and escaping, else risk getting immortalized alongside the player’s masterpiece.
In my role as Lead Programmer, I developed a first-person controller with the ability to walk, run, sprint, jump and interact with game objects using a craft-knife/scalpel. In line with the theme of the project and the thermodynamic root of our idea, I developed a temperature system that acts as a counter and slows down motion as temperature goes down, stopping it at absolute zero.
